The Vineyard is located in the Santa Lucia Highlands Appellation of Monterey County just west of the town of Gonzales. Our Estate Syrah is a blend of the Estrella and Dijon 470 clones. This vintage was one of the coolest in the past three decades. Mid day temperatures from May through August averaged and delayed harvest substantially. This wine has brilliant red color with pronounced northern Rhone-like ground white pepper and some Campari liquor with soft tannins. Pomegranate, licorice and mocha / vanilla aromas accentuate the nose, while a moderate amount of caramel is evident in the flavor, a result of new French barrels. This wine will hold its own with intensely flavored dishes such as stews, grilled meats and strong cheeses. GOLD MEDAL 2010 DALLAS MORNING NEWS WINE COMPETITION GOLD MEDAL 2010 S.F.
