2006 Pierce Vinho Doce Port

With their high elevation, wide variation in diurnal temperature, and rocky soils, Pierce's vineyards in the San Antonio Valley provide an excellent setting for the great varietals of Spain and Portugal. The 2006 Vinho Doce is a California dessert wine consisting solely of Portuguese varietals long associated with the Douro. Entirely estate grown, it was fermented in small lots and vinified according to traditional Portuguese methods. With a character that combines liveliness and depth, its bright fruit gives way to a rich, layered complexity. Though it may be enjoyed while young, it also shows considerable aging potential. 375ml.
